Five Kids & A Pantry
The clients came to us looking to transform a dark, heavy kitchen with island that inhibited the flow and function into a fun and functional space that would accommodate their family of 7. They needed a dynamic, multi-functional kitchen that utilized their existing space to its maximum potential. By removing a wall we eliminated a redundant hallway in between the kitchen and laundry. It provided the extra 3 ½ feet needed to include a large island, abundant refrigeration, a coffee bar, an essential command center, and a circular table big enough for the whole family to eat dinner together. In addition, we transformed an under-utilized office, into a full walk-in pantry, which guaranteed this multi–dimensional family had ample storage and room to prepare food independently. Installing the speed oven/microwave underneath the wall-oven, ensured even the 5 year old could independently make her own breakfast.
Throughout the kitchen & pantry there are designated work zones, and a full range of cabinet organization, including spice and knife pull-outs. Even down to the command center where you’ll find calendars, activity schedules, homework, and even craft organization. The kitchen boasts black and white contrasting colors through countertop, cabinetry, and bold geometric patterned tile. This achieved the clients desire for a neutral palette that could support their evolving relationship with color. We ensured the adjacent living room footprint wasn’t encroached upon, and the LVP flooring throughout could handle years of activity.
