Working With Kids
This young, active family was quickly outgrowing their dated 1967 kitchen. With limited counterspace, poor sight lines, and inadequate storage this budget conscience project needed a family-focused design to meet all their needs. Removing the U-Shaped cabinet configuration and reclaiming square footage from the unused breakfast nook, allowed this once cramped kitchen to become spacious and kid friendly. The new open floor plan provided much needed storage and additional seating by centering a large, oversized island between the kitchen and the full-sized dining table. A built-in bench, under the existing window provided a charming place for their kids to read or play while Mom & Dad worked together in the kitchen.
